Arin was about to shout again, his fists clenched, fury rising in his chest — but before he could open his mouth, Suhana, his wife, gently placed a hand on his arm.
“Arin… please,” she whispered, eyes pleading.
Her touch, as always, calmed him just enough. He swallowed his next outburst, lips pressed tightly together, though his anger still burned behind his eyes.
Sanvi, watching all of it silently, stood up from the sofa. “It’s okay,” she said quietly. “I don’t have any problem with it, Bhai.”
She forced a small smile, though her heart felt heavier than ever. Without waiting for anyone to respond, she walked away toward her room, her red Anarkali brushing softly against the marble floor. The moment her door clicked shut, the room exploded.
Arin turned to face his father again, fists tightening by his sides.
“Papa, why the hell are you doing this?!” he snapped, voice shaking with fury. “When you know who Abhishek Raichand is… when you know what kind of man he is!”
Arjun Agarwal, still seated, didn’t flinch. His eyes, calm but equally fiery, met his son’s.
“For her safety!” Arjun said sharply, rising to his feet. “You know that, Arin! Then why are you asking the same question again and again? Why are you shouting when you already know why I made this decision?”
But Arin’s anger only flared more.
“Then my answer is also the same, Papa!” he roared, chest heaving. “I CAN PROTECT MY SISTER! Did you hear that?! I don’t need some arrogant, emotionless businessman to do it for me!”
His voice cracked, but he didn’t stop.
“I will protect her, Papa. I will die for her if I have to. I will burn the world down if anyone lays a hand on her. Why can’t you understand that?! Why don’t you believe in me?!”
His eyes brimmed with hurt. “I’m Arin Agarwal. I’m not just your son — I’m her brother. I’ve held her hand since she was in pigtails. I’ve watched her laugh, cry, dream. And now… you want to hand her off to someone who doesn’t even know what love looks like?”
Arjun took a deep breath, face unreadable for a moment.
“Love doesn’t always protect, Arin,” he said quietly. “Power does. Influence does. Abhishek can offer her a shield you cannot.”
“I don’t care about his shield,” Arin spat. “I care about her heart. She deserves more than protection, Papa. She deserves peace. She deserves happiness.”
“And you think I don’t want that for her?” Arjun’s voice softened for the first time, pain flickering in his eyes. “Do you think I don’t know what I’m asking her to sacrifice? But this world… this world doesn’t always give girls the freedom to wait for a fairytale. Sometimes, we give them armor instead.”
Silence settled for a moment — heavy, unspoken.
Suhana quietly stepped between them, placing a hand on both their arms. “Please… both of you. Don’t fight. Not tonight.”
Arin turned away, teeth clenched, eyes misty.
“Just remember, Papa,” he muttered, “if she ever sheds a tear in that house… I won’t stay silent.”
And with that, he walked out of the room, leaving behind a silence louder than any scream.
